Concentrated Living cover

16 track remastered album, released via Bandcamp in October 2018 (originally released under the name Dave House in 2006).

Concentrated Living is a sonic document of House’s journey around New Zealand and Indonesia in 2004/5. He captured any audio that caught his ear, from the exotic to the mundane. Once home he unwove the material and tweaked, looped and stitched it into a representation of his trip.

Every sound on the album is an original recording or a derivitive. The recontextualisation of sounds and the way disparate sources sit in harmony is a fitting metaphor for the sensory and cultural overload that is world travel.

In 2018 House embarks on a residency as a composer and sound artist at Sura Medura, Sri Lanka. In an echo of his 2004/5 trip, he will once again be making extensive field recordings, as well as working and performing with local musicians. This seems a fitting occasion to issue a freshly remixed and remastered version of Concentrated Living.
